A Cossack-era town
Opishnia was known as a fortified settlement by the early 17th century. It later served as a Cossack company town while developing a strong tradition of local crafts.
An early pottery school
A model pottery training workshop opened here in 1894. Students learned to shape and decorate clay, carrying their skills to other pottery-making communities.
A museum devoted to pottery
A museum founded in Opishnia grew into the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery. Its collections and research document ceramic traditions from across Ukraine.
The Poshyvailo family homestead
