A village in early records
A regional history reference places Kotliarka in written sources by the eighteenth century. The village stands by a small river called Bezymenka in older accounts, on the road linking Zhytomyr and Skvyra.
Burial mounds and an earthwork
The Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine records two ancient burial mounds near Kotliarka, along with traces of the Zmiiv Rampart from the tenth and eleventh centuries. These sites belong to much earlier chapters of local history.
