Savertsi: local history and notable people
A village in old administrative records
Savertsi formed part of the historic Novoselytsia volost in the nineteenth century. Records for 1886 list 114 households and 728 residents. The village shared economic and administrative ties with neighbouring communities.
Poet and artist Anatolii Lutsenko
Anatolii Lutsenko, a Ukrainian poet and artist, was born in Savertsi. He later joined the National Writers’ Union of Ukraine and received literary awards. His life is one reminder that village history is also about the people who grew up there.
Architect Mykola Ivanchuk
The village is also the birthplace of Mykola Ivanchuk, an architect who served for many years in Zhytomyr, including as the city’s chief architect. His achievements include a Ukrainian State Prize for architecture.
